ABOUT
I’m Marianne Slater, a photographer based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire - though my work often takes me across the UK and abroad.

My path into photography has always been rooted in art and curiosity. I first discovered the magic of the darkroom during my A Levels and later explored my love for digital photography further while studying for my art degree. After running my own floristry studio for over twelve years, I naturally became the one behind the camera - creating images to tell the story of my flowers and my work. When I wrote my book on cut flower growing (published in 2022), I photographed every arrangement and project myself, and that process reignited my love for visual storytelling.

Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of creative clients - from artists and floral designers to workshop hosts and retreat organisers - helping them translate their practice and process into honest, beautiful imagery.

My approach is natural, filmic, and led by storytelling. I love capturing people doing what they do best - creating, making, doing - without any of the stiffness or posing that can take away from the moment. For me, a great shoot feels like a conversation: calm, collaborative, and full of creative energy.

As a practicing artist myself, I understand what it’s like to share your work and space with someone else’s lens. I know how to make people feel at ease and how to see the beauty in the details - light, texture, movement, and the quiet in-between moments.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually in my studio, at home with my husband and our two cats, or planning my next creative project.
